The holiday season is well and truly over, and a brand new year sits ahead like a blank page. While educators are recovering from their well-deserved celebrations and learners are immersing themselves in the new semester, the Glogster team is looking back fondly at a year filled with exciting new developments for us and our constantly-growing community of users.
2014 saw the worldwide Glogster family grow to over 1.9 million educators and over 17 million students, who created over five million beautiful glogs, six thousand of which made it into the Glogpedia library. It remains a privilege and a pleasure to be at the centre of this burgeoning educational community, watching our users inspire and be inspired by fellow gloggers’ creations.
On January 1, 2015, value-added tax (VAT) rates for our products will change for all territories in the European Union. VAT will be based on the customer’s country of residence instead of being the same across all EU territories. If you are not resident in the EU, these changes won’t apply to you.
We just pushed out a new release of Glogster for iPad. Here is the change log:

It’s that special time of year where school gets a little scarier than usual: creepy costumes, ghostly stories, and dangerous amounts of candy. The Glogster team has been getting in the mood with a special Halloween template, complete with grinning jack-o-lanterns. Now it’s your turn to fill it with photos, videos and descriptions, showing us how your class celebrates Halloween.
On Monday, students and educators not only in the United States but in Latin America and around the world will be celebrating a very significant anniversary – the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ first arrival in the Americas! Here, too, we are celebrating this remarkable journey with a new custom-made educational template, perfect for glogs about exploration and discovery!
At Glogster, we take pride in our library. Glogpedia™ is not just a powerful learning resource, showcasing multimedia content across 80 subjects and 9 disciplines, it is also the constantly-growing result of Glogster’s belief in collaboration – in order to create Glogpedia, we relied on our worldwide family of educators and learners to supply us with their knowledge and inspiration. Glogpedia couldn’t exist without community, and just like our community, it is growing daily and taking on a life of its own! That is why we’ve redoubled our efforts recently, working harder than ever to realize Glogpedia’s full potential: from today you will be able to explore 2,000 new top-quality glogs, added to the library as part of an ongoing goal to make Glogpedia a complete cross-curricular learning resource.
After months of anticipation, it is our pleasure to announce that the Glogster iPad application is available worldwide via the App Store. Click the App Store badge to download it now and discover a new world of learning possibilities!
We wish to address the site disruption experienced between 12:35 EDT yesterday and 03:04 EDT this morning. At Glogster we take issues like this very seriously and we wish to apologize for any problems caused to you during this period, as well as offer an explanation.
As some of you may have noticed, the online Glogster platform is currently experiencing some temporary issues with attached files. This is due to a general system update in conjunction with the iPad application release and our ongoing mission to give users the most up-to-date and enjoyable Glogster experience possible.
While the end result of this update will be a faster and more stable experience, it does mean that for a short time the function allowing users to attach files to a glog via the paperclip icon on the top right of the canvas will not be available.
“Where we love is home – home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
Nobody knows and loves a place like the people who call it home, so a few months ago we asked our Glogster users to tell us all about their hometowns via pictures, text, audio, video and links in the Glogster Hometown Contest.
We had a fantastic response, with 500 submissions giving captivating insights into the hometowns of gloggers around the world, all competing for a prize of $1000.
As the launch date of our brand new iPad app is fast approaching, we have received enthusiastic feedback from the teachers who participated in the app pilot program. The participants’ excitement with the application’s functionality exceeded all our expectations.
Part of the feedback showed some misunderstanding concerning the development and purpose of the new iPad application. Some users thought that the new app is a mere upgrade of our older social networking application which was intended and limited purely for social interaction.
