MSLA

The Glogster EDU staff is on the road again!  We’ll be at the Massachusetts School Library Association (MSLA)  annual conference on Sunday, March 4 and Monday, March 5 at the Hyannis Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis, MA. Deena and I will be in the exhibition hall in booth #29 – so stop by to learn what’s new, discuss your licensing needs, learn more about our reseller program, or just to say “hello”!

If you work in or with school libraries,  the MSLA conference is an excellent professional development opportunity — the schedule is packed with big names.

Sunday will feature Ross Todd, Associate Professor in the School of Communication, Information and Library Studies at Rutgers University; Alan November, international leader of education technology; author and motivational speaker Tim Green; AASL President-Elect Susan Ballard; and Jeff Kinney, author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. On Monday, we’ll hear from well-known teacher-librarian-bloggers Joyce Valenza, Chris Harris and Buffy Hamilton; 2010 AASL School Library Program of the Year winner Michelle Luhtala; author Jarrett KrosoczkaKaren Brennan of MIT’s Scratch project; Universal Design Specialist Lori Cooney…the list goes on!

There will also be informative breakout sessions and discussions on both Sunday and Monday. View the MSLA 2012 Conference website for more information, or  view the complete schedule here.

Are you heading to Cape Cod for the festivities? Considering the strange weather we’ve had this winter, you may want to bring your beach blanket and sun screen – it might just be warm enough to catch some rays after the event!

eTech Ohio Conference Giveaway Winners

20 Feb

Jamie Hardin presents “Prezi, Glogster and Jing Oh My!”

eTech Ohio’s  “Next Generation Innovation” conference last week at the Greater Columbus Convention Center was a fabulous event!  Estimates are that between 3-4 thousand educators attended the popular conference.  Hundreds had a chance to learn more about Glogster EDU in informative sessions, and booth 838 was buzzing with veteran Gloggers and newbies alike. Jen and I kept  busy answering questions, sharing Glogster EDU success stories, passing out mints, and keeping interested educators from “borrowing” the Glog posters we had in the booth ;) .

Booth 838 in all its glory.

Columbus did a great job hosting the event for educators from all over the US, and the locals displayed their hospitality throughout the city. (Shout-out to Shuttle Dave at the Sheraton! -Jen)

TCEA License Winners

14 Feb

Austin, Texas and TCEA = Fun. Traveling to Austin, Texas = Not so fun.

The weather in Austin was not as good as it was a couple weeks ago when I was in Orlando for FETC, but it sure was better than Boston! Having said that, being able to walk around without a jacket was pretty awesome.

I attended a few workshops when I was down there, and I even had the chance to take a few of our Glogster EDU Ambassadors out to dinner one night. We went to Iron Works BBQ, and it was a fun night out! I can’t forget to mention that booth 1657 was rocking all week long too. Thanks to all who stopped by and supported us.

We gave away 11 Teacher Premium Licenses and 1 School License at TCEA.

Drum roll, please…

The 5 Month Teacher Premium License winners are:
Virginia Holcombe
Amy Fletcher
Danna Kubacak
Rita Baca
Jackie Stall
Robin Spencer
Rosemary Martinez
Jackie Stall
Kayla Hoffpavir
Pam Beall
Kristin Dawson

The School Premium License winner is:
Sarah Pedroth

Congratulations to all who won! I’ll be contacting you soon with your free license codes.

See you next year, Austin.

Going to METC?

9 Feb

The Midwest Education Technology Conference (METC) is next week from February 13 – 15 in St. Louis, MO.  Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it to St. Louis, which is a bit disappointing because (among many other reasons, of course!) I would really like to visit Busch Stadium.  Fortunately, Glogster EDU will be well represented by one of our fantastic Ambassadors, Melanie Thompson!

METC

Melanie will be presenting Glogster EDU at two sessions: “Glogster EDU – Create Interactive Digital Posters – What’s New for 2012?” on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 2:20 pm and “Glogster EDU – Engage, Motivate and Create” on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 10:50 am.  She will be raffling off a Teacher Premium License at each session!

Other sessions I wish I could attend (and encourage you to attend in my absence):

  • “Integrate Technology By Expanding Your Toolkit” by Jill Badalamenti and Betsy Harrigan on Monday, Feb. 13
  • “Let’s Talk Webtools” by Paula Naugle also on Monday, Feb. 13.
  • “Research Remix” by Shannon Parker and Kate Meier on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 1:00 pm.
  • “Blogs, Wordles, and Glogs Oh MY!” by Julie Wankum and Jackie Remis on Wednesday Feb. 15 at 3:25 pm.

View or download the entire METC program here.

Anyone going to METC? Let me know in the comments. And don’t have too much fun without me!
